Introduction
What is an Ultra Violet light?
UV lamps (also commonly known as Black Lights) differ from normal lighting in that they only emit Ultra Violet light. This is a wavelength of light that isn't visible to the human eye, but the effects can be seen when shone onto different surfaces which interact with the light. UV tubes are made in the same manner as normal fluorescent tubes with the exception of only one phosphor being used surrounded by a nickel oxide doped glass to filter out visible light.
Uses
Ultra Violet Lamps are used in many areas including medicine, recreation and detective work. UV Lamps can be used to steralise fluids from bacteria, detect countefeit bank notes and help police solve crime. But here at Beltus.com we'll just concentrate on providing the safe recreational side of things.
